It sounds like the weather's going to be all over the place this weekend, with the only certainty being the humidity, so staying near water is an excellent idea. If you're not one of the fortunates to have your own pool or cottage, you are at least fortunate enough to live in an area where water is in abundance - whether you prefer the lake, the beach, the pool, the splash pad, or just the sprinkler.
In all likelihood, I'll be taking the little one down to Centennial Beach on Kempenfelt Bay in Barrie this weekend because he loves to watch the annual Barrie Dragon Boat Festival. The races run most of the day on Saturday, and there are a variety of entertainment activities involved, so click to see the schedule if you're planning to go. And if it gets too hot, there's a beach just steps away, and in the other direction a splash pad for the little ones. (photo at right from here)
Also this weekend is Midland's annual TugFest Georgian Bay. "TugFest is a unique event that features a raft of both historical and distinctive work boats. The festival offers both residents and tourists a full list of activities including a parade of lights, pancake breakfast, tug parade, tug run and event dinner." TugFest is actually a multi-stop event, with events in several coastal towns along Georgian Bay and Lake Huron. Click here to find out more about the festival.
If your thoughts on water have more academic leanings, the town of Elmvale is hosting a Water Festival at the fairgrounds and arena. There will be music, food and speakers including Chris Wood, author of "Dry Spring: The Coming Water Crisis of North America." Click here for the schedule. - Caleigh
What a wonderful find! It is so difficult to find helpful sources on the web for Barrie. How excited I was to find this gem of a blog. I hope that you will continue to post information about this community as you now have an active reader!
I am going to tell all my colleagues and friends to watch this space and use it for planning trips to Barrie. I am hoping that a few will decide to move up here, so the fact that you are a real estate agency as well is very very convenient as well!!
Thanks again!
